Independent Choices World Cup Campaign

Independent Choices are arranging a campaign across Greater Manchester concerning Domestic Abuse around the world cup period. The campaign will be launched on 7th June. As campaign material is produced we will make it available on the Events page on this website.

Women's 5K Challenge

Why not join our team on the Women's 5K Challenge. This is the greatest women-only fun run in the country and will be held on Sunday 5th September 2010 in Hyde Park, London.

Information on the venue:
The Iqra Centre is an excellent community venue in Leeds.  The Centres
work is based on the true Islamic teachings implicitly identifying and
exposing concepts and innovatory practices that are alien to the message
of Islam.  The centre has previously hosted events on issues such as
forced marriages, cousin marriages and other sensitive subjects.

May 8th Cambridge Reclaim the Night event

WRC will be speaking at a Men's support meeting...

White Ribbon Campaign will be attending supporting and speaking at a Men's support meeting for the Cambridge Reclaim the Night event

There will be a women’s march assembling on Parker’s Piece from 8.15pm (trans and kids inclusive!) followed by talks, music and reflection in King’s Chapel open to all genders. There will be a men’s solidarity demonstration from 8.15pm outside of Great St Mary’s.

Cheshire West and Chester Council awarded White Ribbon Partnership Award

COUNCIL AWARDED WHITE RIBBON PARTNERSHIP AWARD

A press release from Cheshire West and Cheshire Council reads:

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been awarded the nationally recognised White Ribbon Partnership Award from the White Ribbon Campaign UK for its multi-agency partnership approach to tackling domestic abuse.

Working in partnership with public, private, community, voluntary and faith sectors the award was granted to the authoritys Cheshire West Together project for its approach to increasing awareness of domestic abuse and support to families affected by domestic abuse.

In a survey for Amnesty International in  the UK, over 1 in 4 respondents  thought a women was partially or totally responsible for being raped if she was wearing sexy or revealing clothing, and more than 1 in 5 held the same view if a woman had had many sexual partners.
