The Guardian had a piece on women students protesting against lads mags, which included a mention of White Ribbon Campaign support for the demonstrations .

UNIFEM UK’s magazine had an article about White Ribbon Campaign

Chris Green was photographed to be part of a 24 panel exhibition  on Violence against Women  developed by The Parliamentary Assembly.

Sport

Manchester City responded to a letter from one of our student campaigners offering merchandise for prizes for a fundraising event.

Merchandise

We commissioned new counter top display boxes  from a student design volunteer.

Two new pop up banners were delivered and added to the Music range. Three more new designs to support Sports campaigns will be arriving in March.

Campaigning

Manchester Metropolitan University
Two stands staffed by student volunteers were held in Manchester Met University.  Over 200 male students signed up to join the campaign , and nearly £200 in donations was collected. There was also support from academic and support staff at the University. The students are now intending to represent White Ribbon Campaign at a number of other conferences.

V Day

There were White Ribbon stalls at two performances of the Vagina Monologues at St Mark’s Church in Wythenshawe, Manchester. The church is committed to the WCC campaign against violence, and we will look to work with other churches and religions groups around this campaign.

Changing Men’s Behaviour Seminar

The second of these think tank meetings at the Centre for Public Innovation to look at strategic responses to changing men’s behaviour. Two five hour meetings scarcely touch the surface of the work we want to look at, but it’s an interesting start.

Council of Europe Task Force against Violence against Women

The huge banners at the entrance to the Council of Europe show the importance that the CoE is placing on this campaign. Each country is requested to prepare a national action plan and send it to the COE Secretariat, and there is a meeting of each country’s focal point for action in Strasbourg in June. To download the Campaign BluePrint and other documents go to www.coe/int/stopviolence.
