June activities

WRC (UK) committee meeting. At the meeting there was a call to further broaden the base and to involve more volunteers on the committee. It was also decided to proceed with an application for full charitable status and a number of funding applications. In order to aid transparency of the organisation, minutes of the committee meetings are available to anyone in sympathy with the aims of WRC (UK)

Contribution to Manchester Domestic Abuse Consultation
We were invited to contribute to the City of Manchester Domestic Abuse Strategy and took part in the Domestic Abuse Strategy Workshop.

UniFem UK Meeting on Violence against Women at House of Commons
We were invited to the United Nations Womens Development Fund Seminar on Violence against Women. In Australia Unifem co-ordinates the White ribbon Campaign.

Professional Footballers Association We held a meeting with the Professional Footballers Association who offered support for the campaign. Their comment to us was “Violence, particularly domestic violence against women is something that the PFA would be happy to stand up and condemn.”

Assessor to Greek EU Project
Acted as an Expert Assessor to a Greek EU Funded project:

WRC was appointed as a member of the Violence Prevention Alliance a WHO related organising group. This has already led to an invitation to present at the European Society of Family Relations Conference

Merchandise
The new collection trays and boxes were made available in the on-line shop.

More downloadable resources including leaflets and a powerpoint introduction to WRC were added to the website.
