Liverpool

Liverpool DV Co-ordinator, with colleagues and volunteers from NSPCC distributed nearly 15,000 white ribbons and pledge cards in November 2005. On November 25th there was a press launch event attended by the Lord Mayor, and volunteers staffed stands at a variety of venues including fire stations and hospitals.

Other volunteers toured the city in a spectacular stretched limousine donated by a local hire car company, leaping out at shopping centres and the airport to distribute ribbons and information.

In the evening there was a vigil in the city centre. The managers of Liverpool F.C. and Newcastle United F.C. wore their ribbons on match day. They are planning a larger event in November 2006, and hoping to do work with junior football teams as well as the Premiership giants.

In 2006 Liverpool has distributed about 25,000 ribbons including 5,000 to Merseyside Police, and 1,000 to Liverpool F.C. Even the POlice Horses get to wear ribbons.

Devon
White Ribbon Staff attended a planning meeting for Awareness week in November 2006, organised by ADVA. They have purchased 6 White ribbon banners and will be undertaking activities in the week leading up to November 25th which include petal strewing, giving out ribbons at supermarkets, and a music festival.

Manchester
White Ribbon Campaign developed a poster campaign aimed at raising awareness of white ribbon among young people. The poster sites were donated by Clear Channel the outdoor advertising company, while Manchester Crime and Disorder Partnership paid for the printing of the posters, and for ribbons to be distributed among University students by volunteers on International Womens Day.

A 10ft high giant white ribbon was produced, and photos of students were attached to the ribbon once they had signed their ribbons. White ribbon Staff also undertook a DV Training the Trainers course together with Crime and Disorder Partnership staff.

Angus 2006

We had our photo launch for the WRC in Angus on Wednesday – great success – those in attendance included the Angus Provost, Chief Executive from Angus Council, Director of Public Health for Tayside, local councillors, 4 heads of council departments, Senior Police Officers, Senior Fire Officer, Angus Victim Support and others from local authority.

We have distributed 88 packs of WRC materials throughout Angus.

I am attending a major Alcohol event I n Perth on Friday 1 December 2006 – Over 200 people are expected. The three Domestic Abuse Coordinators for Tayside are putting up a display. I will have some White Ribbon materials available.

Bury 2006

An official launch followed by a morning at Bury College on November 24th.. Two stalls were staffed by Fire Service, Police DV officer, local authority DV co-ordinator and White Ribbon volunteer. We offered students a very short questionnaire (6 questions)and received 180 completed questionnaires in a couple of hours. Staff  also had more intensive discussions with students who wanted to talk about having safe relationships in depth

Later a walkabout in the market giving out white ribbons and leaflets was filmed by three TV crews, Granada Reports, Channel M, (Local Cable channel) and a crew making a video about Bury Safe Partnership.
